Career

Make your own beaver, sign with a rookie team at the bottom of the Pond League, and climb all the way to the Golden Log.

Start your career Leagues
The Player Editor on a phone: a new beaver in a navy uniform, number 61, with tiles for her look, style, gear and name, and a Randomize button.
Randomize a whole look, then make it yours.

Make her yours

Your career starts with one beaver who is all yours. Tap Randomize for a brand-new face, or keep a look you love by its look number. Then pick her hairdo, hat, glasses, fur, body type, voice, number and bat, all shown as pictures you tap.

Her name comes from our word lists, or you can type one that only you see. Everyone else sees a made-up beaver name, so nothing personal ever leaves your game.

Last, pick her spot on the field: any of the nine positions. Her ratings come from her body, her position and the points you give her, and she plays that spot all career long.

The Career screen on a phone: the Pond League's four leagues from the Sapling League up to the Golden Log Championship, and a Start your career button.
Four leagues, from first-years to the best beavers on the pond.

The Pond League ladder

Every league has eight teams: yours and seven rivals. Start at the bottom and work your way up.

LeagueWho you play
1. Sapling League
Easy games
Nine first-years on every bench. Nobody has a plan.
2. Lodge League
Easy games
Real dugouts, real heckling.
3. Timber League
Hard games
The pitchers throw hard and the fans throw harder.
4. Golden Log Championship
Hard games
The best beavers on the pond.

A season is eight games: everyone once, then Rivalry Week, a rematch with the first team you faced. The top four go to the playoffs for the cup. Finish in the top two or win the cup and you move up a league. Nobody ever moves down: a tough season just means another shot at the same league.

A Sapling League season on a phone: this week's game against the Splash Chipmunks with Play this game and Sim this game buttons, and the season's schedule with scores.
Play the game yourself, or sim it and keep going.

Play it or sim it

Every career game is three quick innings. Play this game puts you in charge of the whole team: every at-bat, every pitch and every fielder a tap can send. Her own line, her hits, homers and catches, is what counts toward her career.

Short on time? Sim this game plays it out for you. It still counts, and she still earns half her Training Points. Sim the rest of the season takes you straight to the season's end.

The more you play, the more the manager trusts you. Win her coach over and you get to set a spot in the batting order, then make pitching changes from the bullpen.

Her card on a phone: a shortstop with the Rookie title and her ratings for contact, power, eye, slugger, speed, arm and glove, each with a plus button to spend Training Points.
Spend Training Points on the ratings you want.

She gets better every game

Every career game pays her Training Points on top of the game's usual Beaver Bucks and XP:

She…Training Points
plays a game2
wins it2
gets a hit1 each
hits a home run2 each
strikes a batter out1 each
makes a catch1 each

Up to 10 a game. Fifty points buy +5 on a rating, so she gets better the way real players do: a little at a time, game after game. Want a new look later? Edit her look any time, and her ratings stay put.

A story every season

  • Rivalry Week. Your first opponent each season is your rival. Beat them in the rematch for a reward.
  • Hot streaks and slumps. Three games in a row with a hit and the booth starts calling her Hot Paws. Three without one is a slump, until she busts out of it.
  • The All-Star Game. Lead your team in hits or homers by midseason and she's picked. The Northwoods Lanterns take on the Lakeshore Fireflies, and you play it.
  • Rookie of the Year. In her first season she races three other rookies for the award.
  • The playoffs. A bracket for the cup: the semifinals, then the final.
  • Contract offers. After every season, two or three teams want her. Take the step up, or stay with your team.
  • Seasonal events. When a seasonal event is on, like Spooky Week at Halloween, that week pays double Training Points.

No injuries, ever. The worst thing that happens to a beaver here is a belly flop.

The Unlocks tab on a phone: the next unlocks with progress bars, like Five Alive for 5 career hits, Fence Finder for 5 home runs and Vacuum Glove for 10 catches, each naming its reward.
The next unlocks, and how close she is.

44 unlocks on the way up

Bats, hats, uniforms, celebrations, titles, trophies and Beaver Bucks, each earned once, the first time she does it. The Unlocks tab always shows what's next and how close she is. A few of them:

The Hall of Fame finish

Win the Golden Log and her career is complete. Keep playing for more titles, or retire her as a Hall of Famer with a plaque for her trophy case, then start over with a new beaver. Everything she unlocked stays in your Locker.

In the app, five career achievements wait in Game Center, from Signing Day to Hall of Fame Beaver.

Your beaver plays in Leagues, too. The beaver you make in Career is the same one you can put in a league's draft, where other players' teams can pick her and she earns for you every time she plays. How Leagues work

Questions

Does Career cost anything?

No. Career is part of the free game, in your browser and in the app.

Where does my career save?

With the rest of your game. Every result, her ratings and her trophies are saved as you go, and the same seed means every simmed score comes out the same on every device.

Can I have more than one career?

One at a time for now. Retire her and you can start a new one, and everything she unlocked stays yours.

Is it OK for kids?

Yes. There's no chat and nothing typed that other players can see, and the slapstick is cartoon: tail slaps, stomps and belly flops.
